What are catalytic converters?
 
A catalytic converter is a device located on the exhaust that must be fitted to every car and converts toxic gas and pollution from your car into less toxic gases such as Carbon Dioxide. All catalytic converters are made from a honeycomb like structure to which is where all the gases are released through. When you car is in need of an M.O.T or servicing the catalytic converter will checked to ensure that it is meeting the legal requirement and no unwanted gases are escaping.
 
 
 
How does a catalytic converter work?
Almost all modern cars are equipped with some form of catalytic converter which is also known as a three-way catalytic converter. It is known as this because the purpose is to help reduce 3 main types of emissions which are carbon monoxide, NOx, and VOCS. Your catalytic converter will work by using a catalyst to perform a chemical reaction to which the harmful gases in your car are converted to something less harmful.
